Twenty Iranian lawyers, jurists and human rights activists living inside and outside of Iran, in a letter to four international organizations, demanded the immediate formation of an independent and joint committee to investigate the origin and why of chemical attacks in Iran.
New Universe:
In the letter of 20 Iranian lawyers, jurists and human rights activists living inside and outside the country to four international organizations, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Red Cross. Globally, they have been asked to send their representatives to Iran for investigation and immediate action on serial poisonings.
According to the Iran Human Rights Campaign, while pointing out the necessity of forming an independent and joint committee with the representatives of these four institutions, they believe that investigation and immediate action should be taken on the following four issues:
1. What is the origin of these serial poisonings?
2. Why has the educational field, especially Iranian schools, been involved in these serial poisonings?
3. Why are female students targeted?
4. What actions should be taken to help students immediately and effectively?
This letter states: “We, a group of Iranian lawyers, jurists and human rights defenders based inside and outside Iran, demand immediate action in response to the systematic chemical attacks on schools in Iran, which have poisoned hundreds of Iranian female students and He has gone to the hospital.”
These lawyers and human rights activists in the explanation and reasoning of the request say that these serial chemical attacks on girls’ schools that started on December 9, 1401, have spread to different provinces in Iran and almost none of the girls’ schools in the geography of Iran are immune from this. There have been no attacks.
On the other hand, the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has not only not taken any effective measures to stop or discover the truth, but with contradictory statements and projections as well as suppression of the protesting families, it has practically supported the hypothesis that it is involved in these serial crimes or at least It benefits, it is fueled.
These lawyers and human rights activists wrote in their letter, along with the obvious neglect in investigating and preventing these tragedies and the “incompetence of the government”, the evidence clearly shows that the government intended to kill girls and women due to the “weakening of Islamic values” through observing Not punishing the mandatory hijab laws in recent months, and since the beginning of the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement.
This letter adds that the government of the Islamic Republic, in addition to not allowing the UN special rapporteur to travel to Iran and emphasizing the non-cooperation with the UN fact-finding committee, has shown that it only pursues its own political interests from membership in international institutions, and on the other hand, It does not respect the approvals and decisions of those institutions.
Based on this, the signatories of the letter have asked forty international organizations to immediately form an independent and joint committee with the presence of their representatives to send to Iran (or by using their representatives in Iran) to investigate the origin and why of the chemical attacks on students. and take immediate action.
In their thesis, the authors write to four international institutions: “Regarding the legal and international responsibility of the Islamic Republic of Iran for these heinous acts and the need for clear accountability, we ask you to use all the tools available in the description of your duties and missions to ensure Ensure that these incidents are promptly and transparently investigated according to international standards and that the perpetrators are identified and prosecuted. Also, make sure that solutions are considered for special support for this group of Iranian female students.”
